Sporogonites
Locality: Impofu Dam
Age: Early Devonian
Sporogonites are some of the earliest known plants. These plants share some similarities with extant bryophytes (moss) sporophytes, including the lack of a vascular system. They consist of masses of unbranched parallel stalks that end in elongated capsules (sporangia) (1).
Sporogonites is a common plant at the Impofu dam site, and includes two different species (2).
